My lord and savior, Scott Galloway, spoke on his podcast, “Pivot,” (amazing show, btw) about the real challenge with the US government – That it’s filled with a bunch of old white guys and not the new, young, diverse thinkers of our modern world. Low salaries and traditional, unexciting work environments are preventing young workers from entering this field; Instead, they’re flocking to the hot banks, tech startups, and young brands that we all know and love.
When some friends and I were chatting about this the other day, I asked if they know anyone in their circles who work in any type of governmental position. Silence! This is especially crazy given that two of us are from Washington, DC! We all went to top high schools and universities, so the fact that we do not have any peers from these institutions now representing us on the political stage is CRAZY to me.
With this, my natural solution is to-rebrand the government to attract top graduates and young workers. Below are my five minute brand logo mockups of the government as 1) a consumer wellness brand 2) a young, VC-backed tech startup and 3) a top financial institution. Would you be compelled to work for any of these brands?!
